Professor Asbjørn Jokstad works at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, in Tromsø, Norway since 2013. He is Emeritus Professor and Head of Prosthodontics at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry in Canada. He is also a former professor in Cariology and Conservative dentistry, and later in Prosthodontics and Stomatognathic Function at the University of Oslo, Dental Faculty in Norway. He served from 2001 to 2006 as the Scientific Affairs Manager of the FDI World Dental Federation, Ferney-Voltaire in France. Asbjørn Jokstad graduated as a DDS from the University of Oslo in 1979 and obtained in 1992 the degree of Dr. Odont. with a thesis on clinical observation on dental amalgam restorations followed over ten years. His specialist training in prosthodontics and stomatognathic function was completed at the University of Oslo in 1994. Dr. Jokstad has produced approximately 250 research and teaching publications, book chapters and abstracts with emphasis on: evidence-based dentistry and clinical trials in implant dentistry, prosthodontics, restorative dentistry, toxicology and TMD. Dr. Jokstad has presented lectures for many years in many countries (www.jokstad.net), and served in multiple executive positions including the FDI World Dental Federation, IADR, International Association for Dental Research, AO, Academy of Osseointegration, ICP, International College of Prosthodontics and SSPD, Scandinavian Society for Prosthetic Dentistry.
