ABSTRACT

Perforation is the communication between the pulp cavity and the periodontal tissues. The causes may be pathologic, such as caries and tooth resorption, or iatrogenic that may take place during endodontic treatment or post placement. Both the management and prognosis of a perforation depend on its cause, location and size. Its treatment may be conservative, with sealing of the perforation using an appropriate biocompatible material, surgical or even extraction. Prognosis is influenced, besides the aforementioned factors, by the time between the creation and the sealing of the perforation, a possible bacterial contamination, the sealing ability of the material used and the periodontal status of the tooth. The aim of the present webinar is the literature review of the rationale, case selection, management and prognosis of perforations during endodontic treatment, as well as the clinical application.

The webinar is part of the educational topic “Modern Clinical Endodontic Concepts”
