Intraoral scanners are used to register teeth, preparations and the implant position for the fabrication of fixed restorations. The presence of large edentulous areas can cause inaccuracies when fabricating long span bridges, removable partial dentures or conventional complete dentures. This presentation will highlight the strength and drawbacks of digital scans when compared to various conventional impressions for edentulous arches. Clinical cases will showcase some of the applications and limitations of intraoral scanning for removable prosthodontics, this will enable clinician to choose the most adequate impression technique/ method for the particular clinical situation.
